The Plane That Ended Air Racing
In Cleveland! Mr. Bill Odom Just Prior
To Disaster At Cleveland 1949. The 'Beguine'
Was A Highly Modified P-51A Piloted By A
Unexperienced Pilot. Odom Overturned The
Number 2 Pylon, Tried To Correct And The
Mustang Went Wing Up. At A 45 Degree Angle
The Beguine Plowed Straight Into A Brand New
Home Killing Odom, Mrs. Jeanne Laird & Her
13 Month Old Baby Boy, Craig. Mrs. Laird Was
Inside The House And Died Instantly With
Odom. The Baby Boy Was Outside In His Play-
Pen And Died Two Hours Later From Burns.
Mr. Laird Was At The Air-Race.
